Nervous

Assalamualaikum, salam sejahtera :)

So how's your Friday? Mine started with a drowsy morning, couldn't lift up my eyelids. Despite that, I still managed to complete a karangan, do bio PEKA, learn physics with a friend and some school work. The brain can do wonders, pretty cool for a squishy stuff in my skull XD

Then in the evening, I went for band practice. It was a personal practice, so not everyone was present but we could have been a mini band-just needed a saxophonist and a trombonist. I played okay today. Maybe because my senior wasn't here today, so I felt a bit less tense (?) when I was playing the eupho. Truthfully, my senior is an excellent eupho player. So I sometimes feel a bit stressed up to catch up to his level but I'll do my best to learn. It isn't easy for a left-brainer like me to learn things that require the right-brain functions. I have let my right-brain die years before and it was the stupidest mistake ever. So if you're a parent, teach your child to use the right-brain. Doesn't matter if it is arts or music, just make sure your child exercises the right-brain :)

Tomorrow is the function day. I'm feeling nervous >< Will I play well or will I flunk? I just pray that everything will be fine tomorrow. And after this function, we have to practice for band comp. And again, I'm feeling nervous just saying about it. Okay, put it aside. I don't want to stress myself up too much, I tend to think a lot until I upset myself for no reason.

Ganbate SSAAS BAND !

Support

Assalamualaikum, salam sejahtera.

I've been having band practices lately. So that means skipping classes and staying back at school for 1 week +. My mom is really against me going to school before 5 a.m.. She gives the excuse of where I'm going to perform my Subuh prayer. Like come on, I can always go to the surau with my band mates and pray together. She also gave the hint of rejection towards band when I said I won't be entering class. I know I'll be missing a lot but I can always learn back- I just need to find time and prop open the textbooks, drag my friends and teach me one by one. Ahhh, why are things so complicated ?!

I'm not fooling around. BAND IS IMPORTANT TO ME.

Relief

Assalamualaikum, salam sejahtera :)

Alhamdulillah, a satisfying first exam result. Got 2 A+, 1 A-, 2 B+, 1 B, 1 C+ and 2 C (for SPM based result). I know what you're thinking, like a C is okay?? For me, YES. With my last minute study at that time and brain malfunction during the exams, the result is kind of okay for me.

So here's how my first exam grades looks like :

  1. Bahasa Melayu                               73 B+
  2. Bahasa Inggeris                              92 A+
  3. Biologi                                           70 B+
  4. Fizik                                               56 C
  5. Kimia                                             78 A-
  6. Matematik                                      50 C
  7. Matematik Tambahan                     68 B
  8. Pendidikan Islam                            96 A+
  9. Pendidikan Jasmani dan Kesihatan  84 A
  10. Sejarah                                          60 C+
  11. Sivik dan Kewarganegaraan           83 A

And I cannot believe my Add Maths is higher than my Maths XD

Guilt

Assalamualaikum, salam sejahtera.

See the blog title up there? Yeah, that's what I'm feeling right now.
GUILT
It can bring us to a whole new level or bring us tumbling down.
I had band practice today, we're getting ready for another function this Saturday. We'll be playing 7 songs plus Percussion solo.

I haven't memorize 3 songs yet and the other 4 songs sounds really weak. And we'll be going to the venue TOMORROW :O Today's practice too was a failure for me because I sounded crappy. And to my senior, I'M REALLY SORRY. He played all the hard parts while I just did the fingerings and didn't blow at all.

I really envy people that can pick up music fast, for example my senior. He actually memorize Berjaya in less than 30 minutes, memang tabik ! Sounds like I'm complaining right? For a fact, I am not complaining. I'm just wondering why I don't have that talent to learn music fast. And again, I REALLY REALLY WANT TO PLAY FOR REAL.

-I'll try-

Memory

Assalamualaikum, salam sejahtera :)

Today, BAND PERFORMANCE ! First function outside of school, memang nervous giler >< not to mention the wrong notes that I played, gaaahhh *headbanging*. Takpe, more practice until I get it right --> I'll be sure to come for tomorrow's practice :)

During Negaraku, I think the audience were busy taking pics haha. But nevertheless, the national anthem was sung with SSAAS Band as the accompaniment. Then we moved on to playing Final Countdown and after that ada Percussion solo. Ended our performance with My Heart Will Go On and P.Ramlee Medley. Personally, I liked playing the Final Countdown and P.Ramlee Medley piece :D

On the way back to school, almost everyone slept in the bus (including me haha). Once in school, we had a unity talk and some unity 'exercises'. Pergghh, my palms are smokin ! XD

WHY

Assalamualaikum, salam sejahtera.

At home right now, facing the laptop and typing out this blog. Feeling tired from band practice today. And truthfully, feeling a bit down too. It's been almost three months and I still haven't managed scaling fluently yet. I know you'll go like - "it's only three months, take it easy". But I have to master it fast. Why? Because I want to play for REAL during comp. Not the olok-olok main. So, I'LL TRY MY BEST. I know, sounds really hangat-hangat tahi ayam but insyaAllah, I'll keep my word.

Studying is also getting harder for me. I'm not in the mood to learn lately, with all the added stress and hateful glance all over. I think my bad luck has been following me like a shadow since last year.

Why me?

Mount Kinabalu - the Land Below the Wind

Assalamualaikum, salam sejahtera :)

The first post - Mount Kinabalu ! This was my first time going to Sabah plus hiking Mount Kinabalu. An experience not to be missed especially for hikers out there~

I went on this trip with my parents. We started our journey on Monday, 12 March 2012. There are two ways to reach the peak of Mount Kinabalu, Timpohon trail or Mesilau trail. Timpohon trail was a tiny bit easier than Mesilau trail but like my daddy says - "It's all about MENTAL." yeah :B So we started our hike at 8.30 a.m. and reached Laban Rata at 2.30 p.m. which was approximately a 6 hour climb hike for average hikers. It was raining throughout the whole hike which was a good sign that tomorrow's hike to Low's Peak [the highest peak on Mount Kinabalu (4095.2 m)] would be clear and bright - which was true, Alhamdulillah :) The climate on the mountain was breezy which was really the opposite to where I lodged at Kota Kinabalu - scorching HOT ! Once we reached Laban Rata, we sat down for a warm cup of milo which cost RM 12.80 (freaking mahal man !) before hiking another 500 m to lodge into our cabin, Gunting Lagadan - also the highest cabin and without any heater T^T

The RM12.80 Milo

On Tuesday 13 March 2012, we started our hike to Low's Peak at 2.30 a.m.. And surprise, I got hit by the altitude sickness >< I felt like an airhead and couldn't breath properly. So I was walking at snails pace. This was when my daddy's golden advice came in handy because every time I sat down for a rest, my eyes would puddle and that feeling of giving up was slowly creeping in. One thing for sure, NEVER GIVE UP ! The first half climbing up was hard because of the rocks and stairs. The second half was a bit of a relief because there were more flatland but make sure to mind your steps, don't rush and trip yourself because there is no stop once you go tumbling down - and I mean WAY DOWN. My mom was like a lipas kudung, so fast ! She didn't want to miss the sunrise which was at 6.20 a.m. and she got what she wanted, snapping away with her camera at every angle to get the best shot of it :) As for me, I arrive slightly late with my daddy accompanying me but we did get a good view of the sunrise. By the time we reached the top of Low's Peak, it was empty - a very rare sight ! So we had our individual and family photo up there at the mountain top, having Low's Peak all to ourselves haha XD

sunrise at Mount Kinabalu - credits to mummy :)
at the top of Low's Peak - empty and serene

By 7.30 a.m., we climbed back down to our lodge - took us around 2 hours to climb down which was a speedy trip compared to our hike up which took us 4 hours. All the way down, my guide had to hold my hand to prevent me from falling down. I felt weak in the knees and my legs were shaking but it was one of the most memorable view at the top :) Then by 10.30 a.m., after packing our bags and eating breakfast, we headed down from Laban Rata to Timpohon gate. I got there at 3.40 p.m. and waited for my parents whom arrived 10 minutes later. My mom had to cling onto my dad for the trip down, her legs were already giving away. Either way, that's how our journey up to Mount Kinabalu was :)

*And here's an extra tip, bring a THERMOS FLASK and buy ENERGY DRINK and ENERGY BAR. It'll come in handy ^^

Thanks for reading !
